season opener on Palestine

Saturday February 25, 2006 – Flint, Texas…… THE TRITON/CHRISTIAN ANGLERS BASS ASSOCIATIONS’ 11th year of ministry outreach began its roadrunner season opener with typical February weather.  And the rains came!!! Cool and WET was the order of the day!, Heavy rains, lightning and a weather delay greeted the participating anglers.  While we did need the rain, why does it ALWAYS have to be on tournament day and not during the week while we have to work?  It made for miserable day weather wise. Oh well, at least we got some much needed rain which will raise the lakes levels some. 

The team of Russell Lee & James Lowe breezed to victory with a 5 fish limit of Palestine bass weighing in @ 23.93 lbs.  I forgot to ask the when, where and how they produced their winning stringer of fish, SORRY! 

Rounding out the top 5 teams were Gray & Mathews in 2nd place with another limit weighing18.83 lbs.  Baumann & Pine took 3rd place with 15.81 lbs.  4th place went to Laymance & Laymance with a weight of 10.43 lbs. and 5th place went to the team of Kilmer & Taylor with 10.41 lbs.  (That's the importance of water weight). The team of Frausto & Tisdale took home big bass honors with a nice Palestine bass weighing 6.82 lbs. 

The 2006 membership drive is underway and the member that is responsible for the most new members to join C.A.B.A. will receive some great prizes that will be awarded at our ’06 CHAMPIONSHIP.  We will have 4 membership drive winners, 1 from each of our qualifying division, so get busy guys!  It’s through our members sharing the news and vision of C.A.B.A. that this ministry outreach grows, so please continue to spread the word! 

Our February ministry of the month is Pleasant Hills Children’s Home. Ministry rep Tom Rhodes shared with those present about Pleasant Hills.  It was a pleasure to have Tom with us.  During this event C.A.B.A. raised $645.00 for Pleasant Hills. 

The 10% retained from our monthly entry fees is used to support various charities throughout each tournament season.  It’s this cause that separates C.A.B.A. from all other tournament circuits!  This is our reason for being.  So remember, as your team participates in any C.A.B.A. monthly event you are helping us make life a little easier for those less fortunate.  Also remember that 10% of all entry fees (both monthly & weekly) and your membership fee is tax deductible.  If you participated in any C.A.B.A. event during the ’05 season, there is a 2005 tax receipt form for your use.  Simply print it out and fill in the blanks.  The tax benefit does not apply for our open tournaments. 

Our “Early Entry” bonus drawing winners for this event was the team of Rice & Tramel.  By sending in their entry fee early they were entered into our “Early Entry” bonus drawing and by winning the drawing, had their choice of $100.00 cash or their entry fee paid for the following event in the Roadrunner division.  They chose the entry which is worth $150.00.  Not bad for a .39¢ investment.  Hopefully during the ’06 season we will see an increase in participation in the “Early Entry” bonus drawing.  At least one member of each team that has entered the bonus drawing must be present to win.  If the team that wins is not present, then we will draw until we have a winner. 

Whenever C.A.B.A. travels to Palestine we stay at Lakeside Getaway. Owners Dave and Ronnie run a great facility and will always make you feel welcome. They have numerous clean rooms of various sizes and accommodations. So when your travels take to Lake Palestine, please give Dave and Ronnie a call at 903-825-3295. Tell them your with C.A.B.A.  They WILL treat you right!

Our March event for the Roadrunner division will be March 25 on Bob Sandlin out of the Titus public ramp.  The ministry of the month will be Life Challenge Ranch based out of Winnsboro, Texas.  I hope to see you there!

For those teams that continue to be a part on this ministry outreach and to those that have just joined us, I want to say thank you so very much.  Without you we could not accomplish our mission.  We do our very best to provide the best payback and amenities possible with the funding and sponsorship we have available.  Those who fish with us are accomplishing much more than just having the chance to win a monetary reward.  For our work is eternal.  Each time you fish a C.A.B.A. monthly or weekly event you allow us to give to ministries that are doing what the Lord has called them to do.  Without our support they would be hindered in their ministry outreach!  Each time you fish a weekly C.A.B.A. event you help support this ministry, which in turn allows us to do what God has called us to do.
