Lam & Tenorio

Bad start but GREAT ending!

@ C.A.B.A. Roadrunner division on Sandlin

Saturday March 25, 2006 – Mt. Vernon, Texas…… THE TRITON/CHRISTIAN ANGLERS BASS ASSOCIATION roadrunner division event on Bob Sandlin greeted the anglers with a low lake level but with the most beautiful weather one could ask for!  Finally after the first two tournaments of the year getting soaked, we had great weather.  Even with the latest rain event Sandlin was still about 3.5’ low and sometimes this can be a problem for anglers who may not remember how far out into the lake a shallow point may run!  Such was the case with the team of Lam & Tenorio!  C.A.B.A. rules allow a team to launch at any ramp they choose but they must then travel by water to the registration/weigh-in site to start the event.  This was the case with Lam & Tenorio.  As they approached the Titus public ramp cove they ran AGROUND on a long sloping point and remained stuck until numerous teams attempted to get them unstuck.  Finally after several tries, the team of Lopez & White managed to free them from high center.  As a tournament director, it blesses me to know that C.A.B.A. has participants that will go out of their to provide aid to another team in need.  I remember another such instance several years ago on Richland Chambers.  The team that rendered aid then also won the event! That should tell us something! I want to take this opportunity to personally thank the team of Lopez & White and others for their display of kindness toward Lam & Tenorio.

I said all that to say this, after what would appear to be a horrible start to a bad day, Lam & Tenorio went on to emerge victorious by weighing a 5 fish limit of Sandlin bass weighing in @ 19.52 lbs.  Their winning stringer came on your typical spring red rattle trap pattern.  Great job guys!

Rounding out the top 5 teams were Climer & Climer in 2nd place with another limit weighing 16.74 lbs.  Crayton & Westbrook took 3rd place with 16.43 lbs.  4th place went to Jayroe & Oates with a weight of 15.25 lbs. They also weighed in our first 4 lb. even tournament legal fish for the 2006 season which gave them an additional $100.00 courtesy of Richardson Auto Glass.  5th place went to the team of Fleming & Roche with 13.91 lbs.  The team of Laughery & Otten took home big bass honors with a nice Sandlin bass weighing 5.43 lbs.

The 2006 membership drive is underway and the member that is responsible for the most new members to join C.A.B.A. will receive some great prizes that will be awarded at our ’06 CHAMPIONSHIP.  We will have 4 membership drive winners, 1 from each of our qualifying division, so get busy guys!  It’s through our members sharing the news and vision of C.A.B.A. that this ministry outreach grows, so please continue to spread the word!

Our March ministry of the month is Life Challenge Ranch based out of Winnsboro Texas. Ministry rep Coy Watkins shared with those present about L/C/R.  It was a pleasure to have Coy and the guys with us.  During this event C.A.B.A. raised $550.00 for L/C/R.

The 10% retained from our monthly entry fees in used to support various charities throughout each tournament season.  It’s this cause that separates C.A.B.A. from all other tournament circuits!  This is our reason for being.  So remember, as your team participates in any C.A.B.A. monthly event you are helping us make life a little easier for those less fortunate.  Also remember that 10% of all entry fees (both monthly & weekly) and your membership fee is tax deductible.  If you participated in any C.A.B.A. event during the ’05 season, there is a 2005 tax receipt form for your use.  Simply print it out and fill in the blanks.  The tax benefit does not apply for our open tournaments.

Our “Early Entry” bonus drawing winners for this event was the team of Maner & Maner.  By sending in their entry fee early they were entered into our “Early Entry” bonus drawing and by winning the drawing, had their choice of $100.00 cash or their entry fee paid for the following event in the Roadrunner division.  They chose the entry which is worth $150.00.  Not bad for a .39˘ investment.  Hopefully during the ’06 season we will see an increase in participation in the “Early Entry” bonus drawing.  At least one member of each team that has entered the bonus drawing must be present to win.  If the team that wins is not present, then we will draw until we have a winner.

Our April event for the Roadrunner division will be April 29 on Tawakoni out of the state park.  The ministry of the month will be Boles Children’s’ Home based out of Quinlan, Texas.  I hope to see you there!

I want to take this opportunity to say a very special THANK YOU to Neal Hart with Triton Boats along with Joe Wallace of North Texas Marine for their faithful support.  It is a pleasure to be affiliated with Triton Boats and North Texas Marine.  They have truly been a blessing to C.A.B.A.  I encourage anyone that is thinking of purchasing a new boat to strongly consider a Triton.  Give Rick Vanderwheel (817) 246-2100 of the Fort Worth facility or Joe Wallace (940) 263-1737 of the Gainesville facility a call to take a look at the entire Triton line.  If you would like a demo ride in a TR21 give me a call!  The guaranteed 1st place at our ’06 CHAMPIONSHIP will be a fully rigged, lake ready Triton Tr196 with 200 Optimax, Motor Guide T/M and amenities.

For those teams that continue to be a part on this ministry outreach and to those that have just joined us, I want to say thank you so very much.  Without you we could not accomplish our mission.  We do our very best to provide the best payback and amenities possible with the funding and sponsorship we have available.  Those who fish with us are accomplishing much more than just having the chance to win a monetary reward.  For our work is eternal.  Each time you fish a C.A.B.A. monthly or weekly event you allow us to give to ministries that are doing what the Lord has called them to do.  Without our support they would be hindered in their ministry outreach!  Each time you fish a weekly C.A.B.A. event you help support this ministry, which in turn allows us to do what God has called us to do.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to call.  I continue to pray that the Lord of Glory will richly bless you and yours.

 Mike
