Roadrunner division event on T-Wok

Saturday April 29, 2006 – Wills Point, Texas…… THE TRITON/CHRISTIAN ANGLERS BASS ASSOCIATION roadrunner division event on Tawakoni greeted the anglers with blustery weather which turned into a VERY WINDY day!  After an all-night rain, most of the morning turned out to be nice.  Then came the wind, and boy did it blow!  But all participants made it back to the check in point safely.  Thanks you Lord. 

The father and son team of Bass & Bass managed to outdistance the remaining field by weighing in a limit of Tawakoni bass tipping the scales @ 20.65 lbs.  They also managed big bass of the event with a great kicker-fish weighing 8.94 lbs.!  When it’s your day, it’s just your day!  They are fishing another event coming up next week so I can’t tell you there pattern and location.  But I know!  Because of the extremely high winds C.A.B.A. lost 3-10x10 canopies which were stacked down and tied down.  A sudden wind gust pulled the stakes completely out of the asphalt and ground and mangled the frames of all 3.  SOOOO, if anyone would like to make a tax deductible donation to help replace the canopies maybe I could let you know the where and how of their catch!!!  Of course ya’ll know I’m kidding.  I couldn’t do that. 

Rounding out the top 5 teams were Eperson & McMahan in 2nd place with another limit weighing 16.92 lbs.  Bray & Glass took 3rd place with 16.33 lbs.  4th place went to Copelland & Lipsey with a weight of 15.66 lbs.  5th place went to the team of Peace & Priest with 15.64 lbs. 

The 2006 membership drive is underway and the member that is responsible for the most new members to join C.A.B.A. will receive some great prizes that will be awarded at our ’06 CHAMPIONSHIP.  We will have 4 membership drive winners, 1 from each of our qualifying division, so get busy guys!  It’s through our members sharing the news and vision of C.A.B.A. that this ministry outreach grows, so please continue to spread the word! 

Our April ministry of the month is Boles Children’s Home based out of Quinlan Texas.  During this event C.A.B.A. raised $605.00 for B/C/H. 

The 10% retained from our monthly entry fees in used to support various charities throughout each tournament season.  It’s this cause that separates C.A.B.A. from all other tournament circuits!  This is our reason for being.  So remember, as your team participates in any C.A.B.A. monthly event you are helping us make life a little easier for those less fortunate.  Also remember that 10% of all entry fees (both monthly & weekly) and your membership fee is tax deductible.  If you participated in any C.A.B.A. event during the ’05 season, there is a 2005 tax receipt form for your use.  Simply print it out and fill in the blanks.  The tax benefit does not apply for our open tournaments. 

Our “Early Entry” bonus drawing winners for this event was the team of Rice & Tramel.  By sending in their entry fee early they were entered into our “Early Entry” bonus drawing and by winning the drawing, had their choice of $100.00 cash or their entry fee paid for the following event in the Roadrunner division.  They chose the entry which is worth $150.00.  Not bad for a .39¢ investment.  Hopefully during the ’06 season we will see an increase in participation in the “Early Entry” bonus drawing.  At least one member of each team that has entered the bonus drawing must be present to win.  If the team that wins is not present, then we will draw until we have a winner. 

Our May event for the Roadrunner division will be May 27 on Cedar Creek out Log Cabin Estates.  The ministry of the month will be World Reach based out of Rockwall, Texas.  I hope to see you there!

For those teams that continue to be a part on this ministry outreach and to those that have just joined us, I want to say thank you so very much.  Without you we could not accomplish our mission.  We do our very best to provide the best payback and amenities possible with the funding and sponsorship we have available.  Those who fish with us are accomplishing much more than just having the chance to win a monetary reward.  For our work is eternal.  Each time you fish a C.A.B.A. monthly or weekly event you allow us to give to ministries that are doing what the Lord has called them to do.  Without our support they would be hindered in their ministry outreach!  Each time you fish a weekly C.A.B.A. event you help support this ministry, which in turn allows us to do what God has called us to do.
