Farmer & Herron

breeze to victory @ C.A.B.A. Roadrunner division event

on Richland Chambers

Saturday June 24, 2006 – Corsicana, Texas…… THE TRITON/CHRISTIAN ANGLERS BASS ASSOCIATION roadrunner division event on Richland Chambers greeted the anglers with a slight breeze and beautiful morning at takeoff, then a nice slow rain began to fall until about mid-morning.  Then, as normally happens in Texas, the rain stopped, the clouds left and out came the sun.  Overall we had a great day of fishing on the big R/C.  This was our first trip to Chambers in 2 years so I had no idea what to expect.  I must admit I was pleasantly surprised at the weights that came in.

The team of Farmer & Herron managed to outdistance the remaining field by weighing in a limit of R/C bass tipping the scales @ 20.55 lbs.  Because, C.A.B.A. events are so competitive, and have so many “good Stiks” fishing, tournament winners are becoming very tight lipped on tactics.  But I did manage to get them to tell me they produced their winning stringer by using top water & buzz baits in 5’-6’ of water.  Their fish were caught during the rainy conditions and once the sun came out the bite was over!

Rounding out the top 5 teams were Millender & Neyland in 2nd place with another limit weighing 18.63lbs.  Crayton & Westbrook took 3rd place with 18.28 lbs.  They also managed big bass of the event with a nice R/C kicker fish weighing 6.96 lbs.  4th place went to Epperson & McMahan with a weight of 17.36 lbs.  5th place went to the team of Northern & Young with 17.36 lbs.  We also had a 4.00 lb. even bass weighed in by Mr. Mahoney which paid $100.00 bonus money sponsored by Richardson Auto Glass.

Our June ministry of the month is Speed the Light.  During this event C.A.B.A. raised $537.00 for S/T/L.  A youth ministry outreach of the Assembliesof God which provides transportation vehicles to missionaries around the world.

The 10% retained from our monthly entry fees in used to support various charities throughout each tournament season.  It’s this cause that separates C.A.B.A. from all other tournament circuits!  This is our reason for being.  So remember, as your team participates in any C.A.B.A. monthly event you are helping us make life a little easier for those less fortunate.  Also remember that 10% of all entry fees (both monthly & weekly) and your membership fee is tax deductible.  If you participated in any C.A.B.A. event during the ’05 season, there is a 2005 tax receipt form for your use.  Simply print it out and fill in the blanks.  The tax benefit does not apply for our open tournaments.

Our “Early Entry” bonus drawing winners for this event was the team of West & West.  By sending in their entry fee early they were entered into our “Early Entry” bonus drawing and by winning the drawing, had their choice of $100.00 cash or their entry fee paid for the following event in the Roadrunner division.  They chose the entry which is worth $150.00.  Not bad for a .39¢ investment.  Hopefully during the ’06 season we will see an increase in participation in the “Early Entry” bonus drawing.  At least one member of each team that has entered the bonus drawing must be present to win.  If the team that wins is not present, then we will draw until we have a winner.

Our July event for the Roadrunner division will be July 29 on Tawakoni out of the state park.  The ministry of the month will Life Challenge based out of Dallas, Texas.  I hope to see you there!

The 2006 membership drive is underway and the member that is responsible for the most new members to join C.A.B.A. will receive some great prizes that will be awarded at our ’06 CHAMPIONSHIP.  We will have 4 membership drive winners, 1 from each of our qualifying division, so get busy guys!  It’s through our members sharing the news and vision of C.A.B.A. that this ministry outreach grows, so please continue to spread the word!

I want to take this opportunity to say a very special THANK YOU to Neal Hart with Triton Boats along with Joe Wallace of North Texas Marine for their faithful support.  It is a pleasure to be affiliated with Triton Boats and North Texas Marine.  They have truly been a blessing to C.A.B.A.  I encourage anyone that is thinking of purchasing a new boat to strongly consider a Triton.  Give Rick Vanderwheel (817) 246-2100 of the Fort Worth facility or Joe Wallace (940) 263-1737 of the Gainesville facility a call to take a look at the entire Triton line.  If you would like a demo ride in a TR21 give me a call!  The guaranteed 1st place at our ’06 CHAMPIONSHIP will be a fully rigged, lake ready Triton Tr196 with 200 Optimax, Motor Guide T/M and amenities.

For those teams that continue to be a part on this ministry outreach and to those that have just joined us, I want to say thank you so very much.  Without you we could not accomplish our mission.  We do our very best to provide the best payback and amenities possible with the funding and sponsorship we have available.  Those who fish with us are accomplishing much more than just having the chance to win a monetary reward.  For our work is eternal.  Each time you fish a C.A.B.A. monthly or weekly event you allow us to give to ministries that are doing what the Lord has called them to do.  Without our support they would be hindered in their ministry outreach!  Each time you fish a weekly C.A.B.A. event you help support this ministry, which in turn allows us to do what God has called us to do.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to call.  I continue to pray that the Lord of Glory will richly bless you and yours.

Mike
